~Spring Break So Far~

Spring break has started, which means two weeks off work for me. WahOO! I haven't been doing too much yet, but here are some pics of what I've been up to so far... First of all, my giant, fat, cat Pepper and I have been spending some quality time together.

He looks so sweet and innocent right? Well, poor Pepper got a sore on his lip while exploring the great outdoors while at Grandma's house. So, being a concerned mother, I tried to examine this sore to make sure his lip was not going to fall off. However, this is what happens when you try to look at something he doesn't want you looking at...

He trys to claw your stinking nose off! This picture does not depict the damage very well. I took it about two days after it happened so it had healed a little. Oh man did it bleed and sting. So much for quality time eh? Luckily for the cat, I kind of like him or he would've been taken to pasture, as we like to say in the country (code for shot and killed for you city folk).

On a brighter note....

Today I went with my mom to get our hair done. It was a lot of fun going together. Much to her dismay, I told her we had to take pictures so her sisters could see! :)

Before

After

My most favorite part about these pictures is that I am the one taking the picture, but notice I am looking at the lense. My mom kept looking at the screen instead. Silly goose. Anyway, I'm sure more adventures will be coming on my two week vacation, so stay tuned! ;)

~FeELinG oLd, bUt At LeaSt it'S SpRinG~

Lately I have been feeling kind of old. I know I'm not OLD, but I've just been feeling OLDER. It's interesting how wierd things can make you feel old. You would think getting married or seeing all your friends have kids would make you feel old, but that didn't do it for me. It's been all these wierd little things. Like for example, my best friend from forever has a younger sister. I remember this little sister while she was in her mama's belly, and when she was born, and all that fun stuff, and as I've been getting older, she has been getting older (wierd how that happens?) Anyway, this younger sister recently recieved her learners permit and I recently witnessed her driving down the road. When I saw this, I thought, "Holy crap, I'm getting old." Well today not one, but TWO things, happened where I felt old.
1st: I teach language arts to two 7th grade students (13yr. olds). Today, we got on the subject of ice cream and its delciousness (we often stray off subject, it's a problem), and I told them I used to work at Cold Stone Creamery. Yummmmmm....

Megan and I at Cold Stone

So cute right? Anyway, one of the kids asked me,"Do you like get free icecream?" I told them I don't anymore, but that I did when I worked there. Then he said,"I go there all the time, I probably saw you there when you worked there." I said, "I don't know, it's been quite a while since I worked there." He proceeded to ask me how long ago I worked there. I told him I was 17 when I worked there and now I'm 24, so to figure it out. He sat there for a minute and then said,"I would've been 6 when you worked there.. Ya, I probably haven't seen you there."
2nd: Today is probably the warmest day we've had so far! It was warm enough that on my way home from work, I drove with my window down and just soaked up the sun. While I was driving I thought to myself,"Wow, it is such a nice day! When I get home, I should do some work in the yard so I can be outside in the sunshine." Then I thought of all the stuff I could work on outside: Clean up all the trash that has blown in our yard, clean the windows, check on the flowers, add dirt to the flower bed, etc. Then, like a freight train it hit me. OLD PEOPLE say things like, "It's so nice, I'm going to work in the yard." Young people say, "I'm gonna play outside!" Or just go outside and sit in the sun. Nonetheless, I ended up getting a couple things done in the yard. I picked up the garbage, and put some extra dirt in the flower bed. While outside I checked for all possible signs of spring and this was what I found....

Tulip Heads poking out of the ground

Buds on the tree in our yard

Spring is definatly here and I couldn't be happier!

My Mom's Memory Quilt

As per my mother's request, here are some pictures of the memory quilt I made for her for Christmas. I am so not a sewer, but Caleb's mom is. She helped me make this beautiful photo memory quilt for my mom. It turned out so awesome!
The pictures just don't do it justice! I'm pretty proud of it,  mostly because I got it finished. All the quilting was done by hand. I'm glad my mom likes it as much as she does because it will probably be the only quilt I ever make! I have a new found respect for all you quilters out there, it's dang hard work!!!

JaZzErCiSiN

I used to go to Jazzercise when I was a youngin. I went from the time I was about 12 (Jr.Jazzercise) till I was 19. Then I quit because I "couldn't make it to class." With work and school it was hard to make it, but I probably could've made it... Then when I finally had the time to go, there was no night classes, which is what I needed because of my schedule. Bummer. WELL, my Jazzercise instructor (yes, the same one from when I was 12) sent me an email and said that she had started night classes! So yesterday was my first day back. Oh man, was is rough! I'm really excited to be going back and forgot how much fun it is! Anyway, if you're looking for some serious fun, and to get in shape too (which is also a goal of mine!) then you should try Jazzercise!
