~ dEeR hUNt 2010 ~

Caleb goes deer hunting every year he draws out.
His age group has a lot of hunters in it, so he only draws out about every other year. So far he hadn't ever gotten a deer. The deer hunt in Utah is at the end of October, so sometimes it's still warm but sometimes it's already snowed, depending on the year. This year the weather was horrible. It was FREEZING cold and rained and snowed every day of the hunt. He was only able to go out 3 (half days) out of 5 days because the weather was so crappy. On the very last day, right as it was getting dark, he had a good shot at a spike, so he decided to take it.

As an animal lover, it is sometimes hard to be married to someone who likes to kill them (well, deer at least). But I was actually pretty excited for Caleb because he had gotten his first deer!

~ iT's BeEn A wHiLe, LeT me TeLL yOu WhY ~

I'm totally aware that it has been a LONG time since I last blogged. Not that anyone reads this, but if you do and you have been wondering if we have fallen off the face of the planet, we haven't. There's nothing exciting I can blame my absence on.

Work has been crazy!

At the beginning of the school year, the 6th grade teacher that I aide for was MIA for 6 weeks. Her husband had heart surgery and she took work off to help him recover. SO, I was the substitute for that time. I did win this though...

After the 6th grade teacher came back, things went back to normal for a couple of weeks. THEN a math teacher in our middle school left, SO I became a middle school math teacher for a month. I have a huge soft spot for all the middle school kids at my school because I was their aide when they were in 6th grade. I was even the 8th graders 6th grade teacher for a half a year when their teacher left. Today was my last day as their teacher because they hired a new teacher that will start after Christmas break. I have to say that I am really going to miss those middle school students. I loved seeing them every day! I am pretty excited to see the 6th graders again though, so I guess I can't be too sad.

So, now that life is back to normal (at least for a little while I hope!) AND I'm on break until Jan. 3rd, I can catch up with my blogging!

We'll be seeing you soon!

~ LaBoR DaY wEeKeNd ~

For Labor Day weekend this year we went with Caleb's parents to visit Anut Penny and Uncle Mic. They live in Alpine, WY. which is about 30mins. outside Jackson. It is so beautiful there! Every time Caleb and I visit, we never want to leave. If the view from your backyard looked like this, would you ever want to leave?

I rest my case.

We rode 4 wheelers in the canyons around the Gray's River for a few hours each day we were there.

The scenery was beyond breath-taking...

The company was fabulous...

 Us
 Caleb, Tim, Mic
Penny and Mic
Tim, Caleb, Penny, Mic, Katelyn, Debie
Caleb's cousin Shantel and her husband Trent

Shantel and Trent's daughter Katelyn. She was my little buddy while we were there, we did everything together!

And the food was divine...

 Huckleberries

Wild raspberries. These things were EVERYWHERE. Everyone got sick of me stopping every five minutes to chow down on these suckers.

When we weren't out on the 4 wheelers, we had a lot of fun visiting with each other.

On Monday, Caleb and I took a little detour over to Jackson before we headed home.

We felt like crying as we were driving away from it all and we can't wait to go back again! Thanks Anut Penny and Uncle Mic for letting us stay with you, we had a blast!

~ThRee'S a ChArM ~ HaPpY anNivErsArY~

September 15th was our anniversary. This year it was our 3rd. To celebrate we went to dinner and on the 16th we went and saw Gary Allan in concert.

Caleb's brother Albert and his fiance, Devan, enjoyed the concert with us.

Gary Allan has the most amazing voice ever. Caleb and I have been to a concert of his before and both times he sounded BETTER live than on his cds, which is a hard thing to do apparently because I've been to a lot of concerts that sounded like crap. He is also very enjoyable to watch (for me anyway) because he is so gorgeous. :) It was very fitting for Caleb and I to celebrate our anniversary at a Gary Allan concert because we have always listened to his music together. I guess you could say we fell in love listening to his music, but that would be cheesy....

For my birthday and our anniversary present, Caleb got me a new wedding band. Which is beautiful, by the way. However, extremely difficult to take a good picture of, so if I ever figure out how to take a good picture of it, I'll post it!

Caleb is the most wonderful husband. I could never hope or dream of a person better for me than Caleb. We are so happy together and enjoy every day we are able to spend together. Here's to many more years of happy anniversaries!

... and we lived happily ever after! :)

Fall break = time to catch up on the blog...

A couple of months ago, it was my birthday,
August 24th.
For my birthday every year, I go camping in the Unitas.
It's pretty much my favorite place in the whole world.

This was at the camp spot we always stay at. Someone carved this huge bench with a chainsaw. It was so awesome! Hopefully it will stay there for a few years!

Caleb made me a fabulous cake in the dutch oven.

We spent most of our time riding around, finding places like this...

Pretty sweet huh?

And when we got home, my mom and dad gave me this for my birthday!

I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, but I can't wait to see what awesome things I can create now!!!

~ RaSpbErRy dAyS ~

I love me a good town days celebration. For some reason I am just addicted to them. Pretty much if any town gets together and mentions booths, food, entertainment, rodeos, or fireworks, I get pretty jazzed. My most favorite town days shin-dig has to be Raspberry Days at Bear Lake. So for the first weekend in August, Caleb and I went with my parents to the cabin to enjoy the festivites. We spent our time wandering around the craft fair, watching fireworks, spending time with family (each other and Grandpa and Dixie)and taking a relaxing boat ride. Here are some pictures of our adventures...

Our relaxing boat ride...

Ignore my blinding white legs. Some people were just born white okay?

While on our boat ride, I saw this in the water in the distance...

And I thought to myself, "That's wierd... I don't really remember ever seeing seaweed floating at the top of Bear Lake before..." Well we got a little closer, and this is what it turned out to be...

A huge, disgusting school of huge, disgusting fish. I'm not kidding, there were tons of them and they were hidious.I'm glad I wasn't out on a tube ride when we came across these guys because I probably would've had a heart attack.

Watching the firework show...

Caleb and I sure did enjoy the fireworks, even if they did only last 10mins. Caleb was a sport for taking these pictures with me. His dad accidently hit him in the face with a board at work the day we left, so he had a nice little fat lip to show off. He's still pretty cute anyway right? :)

Our room at the cabin is done in light green and tan with moose all over. We are slowly buying and creating things to decorate the room with. The latest addition is this cute ceramic moose that I made, with the help of my wonderful mother of course.

What a cutie right? He'll look so cute on the shelf in our room at the cabin. Thanks for your help mom! :)

~ gArBaGe? ~

One day, a few months ago, Caleb and I were on a walk in a neighborhood near our house. While we were walking, we came across a house with a bunch of stuff out with their garbage can on the curb. There was TONS of stuff. A bike, laundry baskets, an entertainment center, etc. But what caught my eye were 3 huge pictures. Caleb nearly DIED when I told him I was going back to get them out of the garbage because I knew I could turn them into something AMAZING one day....

Here's what I came up with for one of the pictures.

Before...

This is what it started out as. It's a pretty big picture, just the inside without the frame is 35in x 35in. I had Caleb spray paint the frame black and I covered the map with a piece of fabric and ribbon and hung pictures on it. It's supposed to be like a "family tree."

After...

I know it doesn't look TOO super amazing now, but it will once it's on the wall. It's going in my staircase, with all kinds of stuff around it. I'm thinking it's gonna need some vinyl lettering above it or something for sure. When I get it hung up, I will definatly post some pictures because I'm sure it's going to be awesome!

So, the moral of the story is, never be too prideful to dig stuff out of a garbage can. :)

~ GrAnDpa GeTs A NeW dEcK ~

Since pretty much the only people who actually read this blog (besides my mom) are my aunts, my mom asked me if I could post some pictures of Grandpa's new deck at the cabin so they could see it since they both couldn't make it to the cabin this summer. So here they are Aunt Connie and Aunt Debbie!(and mom too..) Enjoy :)
The old deck ripped off! The old deck was so rotten that when my dad and Grandpa were tearing it up, Grandpa fell through the floor! (Luckly he was fine, just a few bumps. It about gave my dad a stroke though!)
Just about done...
My daddy, the handyman, hard at work! :)
All done!
Look at that beauty! :)
Grandpa gave it a nice coat of sealer and it looks awesome. Plus you can walk on it now without the fear of death in every step!
