~bAtHrOom MaKeOvEr~

Over my spring break, Caleb and my dad did some work on our half bathroom. We painted and tiled. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!

Before...
(I didn't get too many before pictures because Caleb was pretty excited to get demo-ing! He LoVeS destroying things, what a boy...)

Demolition...

Painting...

Tile...

And the moment you've all been waiting for!
After...

I'm super excited about how it turned out! We have the tile to do the upstairs bathroom, and I can't wait to start working on it!

~ cAn We gEt a LiFt? ~

My parents opened the cabin at Bear Lake on Memorial Day weekend. It was cold. Like snowing, freezing cold. Don't believe me? Here's proof...

For a breif period of time on Saturday morning it wasn't raining or snowing, so my dad and Caleb decided to fill that time replacing the side facia that had fallen off during the winter. They had to rent a lift out of Montpellier, Idaho to do it because it was too high to reach off a ladder. Plus it gave them an excuse to play around on a big piece of construction equipment, which I'm convinced is the reason boys become contractors in the first place...

At this point in the operation, I was freezing my butt off, so I went inside. Therefore there are no pictures of the finished product, but you get the idea, it's fixed.

The rest of the weekend we sat huddled up inside trying to stay warm and entertaining ourselves playing games, watching movies, and doing crafts. It was a lot of fun, but we can't wait until it warms up so we can play outside!

~ GrAnDpa GeTs A NeW dEcK ~

Since pretty much the only people who actually read this blog (besides my mom) are my aunts, my mom asked me if I could post some pictures of Grandpa's new deck at the cabin so they could see it since they both couldn't make it to the cabin this summer. So here they are Aunt Connie and Aunt Debbie!(and mom too..) Enjoy :)
The old deck ripped off! The old deck was so rotten that when my dad and Grandpa were tearing it up, Grandpa fell through the floor! (Luckly he was fine, just a few bumps. It about gave my dad a stroke though!)
Just about done...
My daddy, the handyman, hard at work! :)
All done!
Look at that beauty! :)
Grandpa gave it a nice coat of sealer and it looks awesome. Plus you can walk on it now without the fear of death in every step!

~ Mission Craft Room: Complete ~

I consider myself kind of crafty. I'm pretty sure my love of crafts came from my super, fantasically crafty mom. So I've been dying for a place to craft where I don't have to put everything away right in the middle of something to make dinner or whatever. So I decided to try to make some sort of craft room.

If I were a rich woman, I would have a whole ENTIRE room, all to myself, where I could go and craft until the cows came home. I envision it to look something very similar to this, only even more fabulous and amazing...

Sadly, I am not a rich woman, but I do know how to make do with what I have, so the craft room is compelete, almost...

So, here is the before, just incase you have forgotten what it looked like...

Now keep in mind before you see the after pictures, that I spent very little money, like maybe $20, and that this room is also: a spare bedroom, computer room, and storage area for extra crap Caleb and I seem to need...

My mother-in-law gave me an extra folding table she had for free, and we all know free = automatically awesome. I already had all the storage containers, except for the 12x12 paper one. I kept them in a corner of our kitchen, so really I only had to buy one container. The walls are really bare, but I'm okay with that for right now...

This picture of basically the same thing, I'm just proving that there is still a bed in the room.

Recognize the bookcase? Yes it is the old, ghetto one from the front room that was replaced. I am still planning on painting it, like a mentioned before. Infact, if you look on top of the bookcase, you can see a blue spray paint can. That's what color it's going to turn as soon as I get the ambition to do it. Pretty much the only other purchase I made for the room was the magazine holders, they were super cheap from IKEA. The shoe box on the top currently has ribbon in it. I am patiently waiting for my husband to make a ribbon holder to replace it.. cough, cough.. ;)

This is showing the same thing, it's just proving that there is still a computer in there.

This is supposed to be showing the closet. I'm aware it doesn't show it very well, however I didn't really feel like taking anymore pictures of a room, so this is as good as it gets. The closet is bascially storage for misc. or big craft supplies and all the other things we like to store.

So there you have it! There are a few, little details that need to get finished, but it's pretty much done. Now I have a wonderful place to craft all to myself. Plus, Caleb says I really just like to buy craft supplies and look at them instead of actually use them, well now they're all orgainzed neat and fancy so I can stare at them to my little heart's content.

Oh, but P.S. You know what this room is seriously missing? That's right, you guessed it, a sewing machine! Maybe, just maybe, I'll get one for my birthday. Hint, hint Caleb... ;)

Caleb the Handyman

Caleb did some wonderful home improvements this weekend.
First of all, our bathroom faucets have always leaked just a little bit, so we decided to put some new ones in. You can't really tell from the pictures but the new ones look MUCH better!

Before...

Caleb working his magic...

And after!

We have two bathrooms, so he did two of these this weekend. After he put the faucets in, we went to IKEA to try and find something to organize this mess...

I got the wonderful idea to make a craft corner in our spare room. Well, to say the least, it isn't working out so smoothly. Trying to make a very small room into 1/4 spare bedroom, 1/4 computer room, 1/4 storage area and 1/4 craft space is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Anyway, we didn't find anything for the room at IKEA, but I did find a beautiful bookcase for my front room. The bookcase we had in our front room is ancient. It's also pretty much a piece of crap. I'm pretty sure it was my brother Kimo's at one time. It was black, but has since been painted white twice, and the black paint still seems to sneek its way to the top. It is made of particle board and needs many shimms along the back corners to "try" to make it "level." I've been begging, pleading and whining for about as long as we've lived in our house for a new bookcase, but I've never really found one I liked that I was willing to pay for. Then we found this bad boy at IKEA for only $79.99! Wohoo! Caleb gladly put it together for me. I'm pretty sure he was more excited about it than me because now he doesn't have to listen to me jabber on and on about how wonderful a new bookcase would be...

Our ghetto before bookcase...

Caleb hard at work again... (see doesn't he look excited??)

Our new, super cute bookcase!

We also found some nice corner shelving for the plants in our kitchen, but I'm not finished decorating it yet, so I'll put pics up when I get it done. As for the craft room, we will be working on it this week and we'll see if we can ever get it finished. I did decide to use the old, ghetto bookcase in the craft room though. I think I'm gonna spray paint it some cool color too, we'll see if the black paint can find its way through one more layer. We sure are getting our use out of that old hunk of junk! :)
